This is the Bar Mixato flagship in China, Starbucks’ ambitious foray into cocktails, perched on the second floor of the sprawling Shanghai Starbucks Reserve Roastery at HKRI Taikoo Hui. Yes, the coffee giant serves drinks, and it’s surprisingly good at that. The sleek, lounge-like space features a long bar and plenty of seating room, blending Starbucks’ corporate polish with a legit cocktail program.
Officially launched in October 2019 in Shanghai, this high-volume bar slings well-made cocktails from morning till night (yes, even at 9am). Spearheaded by Chivas Masters champion Timothee Becqueriaux, the bar also hosts global talents like Handshake Speakeasy (World’s 50 Best #1, 2025), Quinary (Asia's 50 Best, Hong Kong), and celebrity bartender Luca Cinalli of Oriole (London).
The menu leans into coffee- and tea-based signature cocktails — many featuring Starbucks’ Shanghai Blend roasted beans — but classics are executed with equal precision. With over 20 locations in China, Bar Mixato proves that when Starbucks does cocktails, they do them right.
